This Sagrantino di Montefalco shows an intense ruby red color and nuances
of garnet red, little transparency. The nose reveals intense, clean,
pleasing, refined and elegant aromas which start with hints of blackberry,
plum and black cherry followed by aromas of violet, blueberry, vanilla,
pink pepper, tobacco, cinnamon, chocolate and menthol. The mouth has good
correspondence to the nose, a tannic attack and however balanced by
alcohol, full body, intense flavors. The finish is persistent with flavors
of plum, blackberry and black cherry. A well made wine. This Sagrantino di
Montefalco ages for 28 months in cask followed by 12 months of aging in
bottle. |

Ottimo esempio di vino venduto con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo, se si considerano le altre proposte di vini analoghi prodotti nella stessa zona e con la stessa uva.
Già il colore preannuncia un grande vino: intenso e scuro che lascia poco spazio alla luce. I profumi che ho sentito nel calice mi ricordano nettamente la mora (che dicono sia una caratteristica del vitigno) ma anche la viola mammola è altrettanto forte. Un plauso all'enologo per l'uso della botte, molto equilibrato senza disturbare troppo. Interessanti anche i profumi di maturazione, su tutti il cioccolato e il pepe, che fanno da cornice a spezie eleganti.
Al gusto è molto robusto è strutturato (ma anche in questo caso, si dice che sia una caratteristica del Sagrantino) tuttavia si coglie anche una bella morbidezza e piacevolezza. La persistenza è molto buona con ampi ritorni di mora e prugna. Un bel vino.
