I read in another thread about Merlot and Chardonnay being the king of grapes. Last night I had a magnificent California Sauvignon Blanc and I liked it very much. Don't you guys think Sauvignon Blanc can be considered a king as well?
What is your experience with this grape? I heard French Sauvignon Blanc is very good and in particular the one from Loire. Can you guys provide more feedback about Sauvignon Blanc wines?

I love Sauvignon Blanc because of its aromas as well as for its zesty character. I do not have much experience with French Sauvignon Blanc and I too have heard of Loire being very good. I tried many Sauvignon Blancs from California and some of them were clearly aged in oak.
I do prefer when Sauvignon Blanc is ages in steel vats as I believe it can express their best qualities. Maybe it is because I like its fruity and vegetal aromas and oak tends to cover them. I also think it is a good wine for food and I also tried with barbecue, although I do not think this to be the best matching.

Sauvignon Blanc is one of may favorite white grapes and my favorite area certainly is Loire, France. I like when Sauvignon Blanc is vinified in steel and I find the barrique not very suited for this grape, in particular when it is too strong.
I also Sauvignon Blanc as a wine to be matched with foods, in particular crustaceans and fish.

I too like Sauvignon Blanc and, of course, the ones from Loire. My favourite one is Sancerre although I also like the touch Sauvignon Blanc gives to Sauterned and Barsac. I am not that familiar with Sauvignon Blancs from other areas, except for a couple wines from New Zealand. I liked them, but in my opinion they lack the "zest" of Loire.

I definitely love Sauvignon Blanc and in particular the ones from Alto Adige, Italy! And I love when they express their herbaceous aromas of bell pepper! Another thing I love of Sauvignon Blanc is its acidity which is, in my opinion, great for the matching with foods!

Hi. I'm living in sea coast and when i'm having a nice crisp fish or calamari the sovignon blanc automaticly come to my minde like best combination...but not only the freshnes of this wine, the herbel aromas invite you to dring this tipe of wines bay it self.
I also think that barig is not a great choise for fermentation or aging for this grape.
