An event which can be defined a workshop about Sagrantino in the interpetation of different terroirs. Absolute protagonists of the evening the three Sagrantino di Montefalco crus produced by Giampaolo Tanarrini, to which was also added a fourth Sagrantino, in the traditional sweet style. An evening dedicated to red wines accompanied by the great white wine of Tabarrini - Adarmando 2008 - extraordinary representative of the emerging Trebbiano Spoletino grape. The evening started with this wine, charming participants of the event with its intense aromas and its undeniable elegance. Giampaolo Tabarrini told how this grape is present in his vineyards since many tens of years and how Adarmando is now a mono-varietal wine made from 100% Trebbiano Spoletino. A memorable evening who allowed participants to understand the many interpretations of Tabarrini's Sagrantino, thanks to the three crus produced by the winery of Turrita di Montefalco. Three Sagrantino wines in the "dry" style, all belonging to the same vintage - 2006 - and aged for about 30 months in cask, but different for the type of soil and exposition and, of course, for the microclimate of each cru. The first wine has been Sagrantino di Montefalco Colle Grimaldesco, historical label of Tabarrini, cultivated in a clay soil and exposed to South-East, then continued with Campo alla Cerqua, whose vineyards are in a gravelly soil exposed to East, and ended with Colle alle Macchie, the highest vineyard of the winery, in a clay soil exposed to South. Whether in Colle Grimaldesco it is the typical power of Sagrantino's tannins to emerge, in Campo alla Cerqua we can find a more elegant and immediate style, in which can be perceived a pleasing acidity and ruvid tannins. Colle alle Macchie is the representation of Sagrantino's power, with strong tannins and a hotter character than Colle Grimaldesco. The evening has been characterized by the advance tasting of two wines: Sagrantino di Montefalco Colle alle Macchie 2006 - which will be commercialized in 2012 - and Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito Colle Grimaldesco 2006. A memorable and unforgettable evening, an extraordinary occasion to understand Sagrantino di Montefalco in the style of Giampaolo Tabarrini.
