Pantelleria (Sicily) This Passito di Pantelleria shows a brilliant amber yellow color and nuances of amber yellow, transparent. The nose denotes intense, clean, pleasing, refined and elegant aromas that start with hints of raisin, dried fig and dried apricot followed by aromas of candied fruits, date, peach jam, almond, sage, orange marmalade, lavender, honey and vanilla. The mouth has good correspondence to the nose, a sweet attack and pleasing crispness, however balanced by alcohol, good body, intense flavors, pleasing roundness. The finish is persistent with flavors of raisin, dried fig and dried apricot. This Passito di Pantelleria ages for 5 months in cement tanks and 8 months in barrique followed by 6 months of aging in bottle.

Di sicuro non si può dire che è un passito mediocre, un buon passito di pantelleria, ma francamente, non proprio eccelso. Mi sarei aspettato qualcosa in più da questa storica firma siciliana.
Intendiamoci: non sono rimasto deluso, tutt'altro, ma mentre i profumi mi sono sembrati molto convincenti e ricchi, in bocca mi è sembrato non reggere il confronto con il naso, soprattutto la persistenza, certamente buona, ma non lunghissima.
