Calanco 2008
(Umbria)
Sangiovese (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%)
|
Red Wine |
Score: ✧✧✧✧ |
Calanco shows an intense ruby red color and nuances of garnet red, little
transparency. The nose denotes intense, clean, pleasing and refined aromas
which start with hints of black cherry, black currant and plum followed by
aromas of violet, blackberry, blueberry, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco and
eucalyptus. The mouth has good correspondence to the nose, a properly
tannic attack and however balanced by alcohol, good body, intense flavors,
pleasing roundness. The finish is persistent with flavors of black cherry,
black currant and blueberry. Calanco ages for 16 months in barrique
followed by 14 months of aging in bottle. |
