Montefalco Sagrantino (Umbria)
Sagrantino

Score: ✧✧✧✧✧ |
Sagrantino di Montefalco Il Domenico shows an intense ruby red color and
nuances of garnet red, little transparency. The nose denotes intense,
clean, pleasing, refined and elegant aromas that start with hints of
blackberry, plum and dried violet followed by aromas of black cherry,
blueberry, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco, licorice, graphite, mace, leather and
menthol. The mouth has excellent correspondence to the nose, a tannic
attack and however balanced by alcohol, full body, intense flavors,
pleasing roundness. The finish is very persistent with long flavors of
blackberry, plum and black cherry. Sagrantino di Montefalco Il Domenico
ages for 30 months in cask followed by 24 months of aging in bottle. |
