Colli Orientali del Friuli is one of the main wine areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia: here are produced the most renowned wines of the region, including Friulano, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Verduzzo and Picolit. Marco Cecchini is one of the most interesting exponents of this territory, vintner with clear ideas and capable of turning the fruit of his vineyards into wines of strong personality. The evening dedicated to the wines of this interesting wine maker from Friuli had as protagonists five wines, all being expression of the territory and of the personal viticultural and enological philosophy of the winery of Faedo in province of Udine. Marco Cecchini told participants the style and the way of interpreting the territory through his wines, a passionate narration which continued in the glass during the tasting. First wine to introduce Marco Cecchini's wine making style has been Pinot Grigio Vigneto Bellagioia 2010 - a preview tasting for this event - a wine having a remarkable personality and completely aged in steel tanks. The event continued with Colli Orientali del Friuli Bianco Tové 2009, interesting wine and fruit of the union between two of the most renowned white berried grapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Friulano and Verduzzo, of which a small part aged in cask. Among the most appreciated wines of the event has certainly been the third one of the evening - Riesling 2008 - among the most noble and celebrated grapes of the world and which finds in this wine an example of strong personality, well supported by the typical acidity and remarkable elegance. It is then the turn of the only red wine of the evening, also in this case expression of Friuli's wine making tradition - Colli Orientali del Friuli Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2008 - a red wine of good structure, aged in cask and which proved to have qualities that will ensure a long future ahead. The evening ended with another wine of the regional tradition, Colli Orientali del Friuli Verduzzo Friulano Verlit 2007, produced with the homonymous grape and aged in barrique, a wine of pleasing sweetness and with a typical almond finish. The tasting of wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, who has also illustrated participants the dishes created for the pairing of each wine and made by Locanda dei Golosi kitchen led by chef Emiliano Buccolini and sous chef Alberto Kurti.
