An evening dedicated to one of the most interesting grapes of Italy which is being quite successful since many years in the wine scene of Campania region: Fiano. A special event dedicated to Lunarossa's wines, led with competence and passion by Mario Mazzitelli, owner and wine maker of the winery of Giffoni Valle Piana, in the province of Salerno. Lunarossa have become known for a wine in particular, Quartara, produced with Fiano grape and fermented in clay amphorae. To the event took part Dr. Mario Mazzitelli, whom introduced participants to the territory and grapes protagonists of his wines, including Aglianico, Falanghina, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The event starts with the first of the white wines, a pleasing introduction to Fiano, the grape protagonist of the evening: Costacielo Bianco 2011, a wine in which is also found, in equal parts, Falanghina, one of the many wine glories of Campania, completely vinified in steel tanks. Also from the Costacielo line, the event continued with the rose wine produced by Lunarossa, in which are found Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with a partial aging in cask: a pleasing wine, with a good balance between crispness and roundness. It is then the turn of Quartara, for the occasion presented in two vintages: 2009 and 2008. A wine of remarkable body and sensorial complexity, it certainly has been the wine which received the highest appreciation from participants of the event. The first vintage to be tasted is 2009, a wine showing a remarkable crispness and personality. The event continues with the first of the red wines, Rossomarea 2007, produced with Aglianico and a small part of Merlot, aged in cask: a very agreeable wine in which it is possible to perceive the dominant characters of both grapes. The second wine of the evening, Borgomastro 2007, produced with 100% Aglianico grape, shows all of the power of the famous red grape, a wine of remarkable body and elegance, splendid expression of Aglianico produced in this area. The event ended with Quartara 2008, a wine that, just like the previous vintage, shows a lively crispness and full body, in particular, a remarkable personality and a very long future ahead, just like vintage 2009.
