The season 2007-2008 of DiWineTaste's event has begun by celebrating one of the fathers of modern Italian enology, a tribute to a great man who made great the wine of Friuli Venezia Giulia, by turning his dream into reality: Mario Schiopetto. At the event took part one of Mario's sons, Carlo Schiopetto, who introduced the over 100 participants to the suggestive history of his winery and the wines tasted in the course of the event. An important journey which led participants to the discovery of Collio wines and its typical grapes, told in the wines of Mario Schiopetto. The tasting of the four wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, who also created the dishes served in enogastronomical matching and made by the Locanda dei Golosi's cooks, led by Chefs Emiliano Buccolini and Francesco Pelli. The event began with Collio Pinot Bianco 2006, followed by Collio Tocai Friulano 2006, both being very appreciated for their elegance and finesse. It was then the turn of the third white wine, Blanc des Rosis 2006 which - as explained by Carlo Schiopetto - takes its name from Friulian language and meaning "White of Flowers": a wine of excellent finesse and balance. The review of Mario Schiopetto's wines ended with Blumeri Rosso 2003, a red wine mainly produced with Merlot to which are added Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, aged in barrique.
