Castello delle Regine certainly represents one of the most interesting and representative wineries of Umbria, a result achieved in few years thanks to the scrupulous work done in every aspect of production, from vineyard to the bottle. The excellence of Castello delle Regine has been confirmed and expressed by the wines presented in enogastronomical matching, a white and three reds, all of high quality. To the event took part Dr. Livia Colantonio, owner of Castello delle Regine, and Dr. Roberto Ravelli, agronomist of the winery. The fisrt wine presented has been Bianco delle Regine 2007, from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris grapes, aged in steel tanks. The event continued with Rosso di Podernovo 2005, from Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Syrah grapes, aged in cask, an interesting wine which allowed participants to understand the style and philosophy of Castello delle Regine in the production of red wines. Remarkable success for the prestigious Selezione del Fondatore 2003, from Sangiovese Grosso and aged in barrique, as well as for the excellent Merlot 2004, the wine which let Castello delle Regine to be known in Italy and in the world, every year confirming its high quality. The event is ended with the tasting of Grappa Riserva Merlot 2003, aged for 5 years in cask. The sensorial tasting of wines and grappa has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, chief editor of DiWineTaste, who also created - as usual - the enogastronomical matching and made by Locanda dei Golosi's chefs.
