A journey to the territory of Acate and Vittoria, in company of the most famous Sicilian grapes: Grillo, Frappato and Nero d'Avola. Absolute protagonists of the evening, the wines of Valle dell'Acate, prestigious Sicilian winery in the province of Ragusa, now successfully run by Gaetana Jacono, representative of the sixth generation of vintners. The famous Sicilian winery - owned by Jacono and Ferreri families - has always been involved in the revaluation of viticulture in the territory of Ragusa, in particular Vittoria, Acate and Comiso areas. Five wines, expression of the remarkable viticultural value of the province of Ragusa, making of the sensorial cleanness and agreeability two of their most important qualities. The event starts with Zagra 2014 - made from 100% Grillo grape - a wine well representing the wine making style of Valle dell'Acate and having in elegance and cleanness its main quality. The event proceeds with the first of the four red wines of the evening, starting from Vittoria Frappato "Il Frappato" 2014, wine of remarkable agreeability and pleasingness, crisp and exuberant with its aromas of cherry and raspberry, well representing the potentials of this famous Sicilian grape. It is then the turn of another wine expression of the territory of Vittoria, the only "Denominazione d'Origine Controllata e Garantita" wine of Sicily, blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes - Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico 2012 - a wine having a good body and roundness, also thanks to the aging in cask. The evening ended with two superb interpretations of Nero d'Avola: Il Moro 2012 and Il Moro "Limited Edition" 2008, the latter being produced in a very limited number of bottles, thanks to the exceptional quality provided by vintage 2008 as to deserve this prestigious and rare reserve wine. The evening has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana - DiWineTaste chief editor - by illustrating to participants the grapes and wines of Valle dell'Acate as well as personally creating the dishes paired to each wine.
