The event dedicated to the wines of Franco Todini was not only a chance to understand the production of the winery of Todi, but also an opportunity for understanding the wines of Umbria and its grapes. Representing Todini winery, to the event took part Dr. Roberto Corsetti - managing director of the winery - and Dr. Maurilio Chioccia, wine maker. The event began with Antonello Biancalana's welcome to participants, followed by Dr. Corsetti who illustrated the productive aspects of his winery. To Dr. Chioccia the duty of talking about technical and enological aspects of the wines presented in the course of the event, whereas the tasting and the enogastronomical matching have been done by Antonello Biancalana. The evening began with Jacopone Brut, a classic method sparkling wine produced with Chardonnay, followed by Colli Martani Grechetto di Todi Bianco del Cavaliere 2007, an interesting interpretation of the famous white berried grape from Umbria, very pleasing for its intense aromas. The event continued with the first of the three red wines - Colli Martani Sangiovese Rubro 2005 - followed by the excellent Nero della Cervara 2004, made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, and the preview tasting of 2005 vintage, reserved to DiWineTaste readers. The dishes presented in enogastronomical matching with the wines of Todini winery have been made by Locanda dei Golosi's kitchen led by Chef Emiliano Buccolini.
