The long history and tradition of Avignonesi, among the most ancient wineries in Italy, has confirmed also in this occasion the quality and excellence of its wines. Five wines - two whites and three reds, absolute protagonists of the evening - which told the over one hundred participants the quality and characteristics of Cortona and Montepulciano wine areas. Dr. Paolo Trappolini - wine maker of Avignonesi - took part to the event and illustrated to the participants the productive philosophy of his winery and the characteristics of the four estates: Fattoria Le Capezzine, I Poggetti, Tenuta La Selva and La Lombarda. The event started with the very good Cortona Sauvignon Blanc 2006, which pleasingly surprised participants for its freshness and elegance, followed by Cortona Chardonnay Il Marzocco 2004, the famous white produced by Avignonesi. The event continued with the first of the three red wines - Rosso Avignonesi 2004 - followed by one of the most representative reds of the historical Tuscan winery, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2004, one of the most appreciated wines of the event. Also the third wine of the evening - the excellent Cortona Merlot Desiderio 2004 - has been very appreciated, by confirming - also in this vintage - its indisputable elegance and class. The evening ended with the tasting of Grappa di Vin Santo 1997, produced with the pomace of the monumental Avignonesi's sweet wine.
