The season 2018/2019 of DiWineTaste events ended with the elegance and finesse of Siddura wines, a prestigious winery in Gallura and committed to the production of wines made with the typical varieties of their territory and Sardinia. An event having as protagonists Vermentino di Gallura, Cannonau di Sardegna and Moscato di Sardegna, wines of remarkable territorial expression and originated from the vineyards of the winery in Luogosanto, in province of Olbia-Tempio, interpreted by wine maker Dino Dini. To the evening took part Massimo Ruggero - chief executive officer of Siddura - whom unfolded the secrets of Gallura and the job done in vineyard and winery, at the base of the successful wines made here. The event had as protagonists six wines, all produced with the typical varieties of Sardinia and Gallura, which majestically unfolded the potentials of this enchanting territory and, in particular, the exclusive character Vermentino gets in Gallura, reaching the highest ranking of the the Italian quality system - DOCG - the only one in Sardinia. The evening started with Vermentino di Gallura Spera 2018 - one of the three produced by Siddura - a wine giving this famous white variety a character of remarkable agreeableness and in which are expressed clean aromas of flowers and fruits as well as the characteristic touch of almond. It is then the turn of the second wine of the evening, Vermentino di Gallura Superiore Maia 2017, also in this case aged in steel tanks and a preview tasting for this event, gives the senses an fuller and more complex interpretation of Vermentino, while keeping an extraordinary elegance and finesse. The third wine of the event introduced another glory of Sardinia - Cannonau grape - pouring in the glasses a decidedly uncommon style for this island although provided by its DOC: Cannonau di Sardegna Rosato Nudo 2018. A rose wine of pleasing crispness and aged in steel tanks, offers intense aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, joined to a remarkable agreeableness, a perfect companion for the table of summer days. It is then the turn of Cannonau di Sardegna Erema 2016 - also in this case entirely made in steel tanks - a wine perfectly joining the character of Cannonau to the pleasing crispness given by acidity, while expressing intense aromas of fruits and in which are perceived black cherry, plum and blackberry. The fifth wine of the event has as protagonist the great red from Sardinia: Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva Fola 2016. Aged in cask, this wine gives our senses a more robust and strong character, a perfect balance between astringency of tannins and the roundness given by time and wood, a wine of good complexity capable of pairing rich and complex foods. The evening, and therefore season 2018/2019 of DiWineTaste events, ended with the extraordinary and precious Moscato di Sardegna Passito Nuali 2015, made from dried grapes affected by Botrytis Cinerea - noble rot - giving the nose an endless richness of aromas in which dominates the elegance of dried apricot. The sensorial tasting of wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana - DiWineTaste chief editor - whom created, as usual, the dishes paired to Siddura wines and made by Locanda dei Golosi's kitchen led by Chef Emiliano Buccolini.
