The season 2007-2008 of DiWineTaste's events ended with the excellent wines of one of the most important wineries of Sicily and Italy: Duca di Salaparuta. An event which had as protagonists 6 wines, an opportunity to understand the differences offered by the territory of Sicily. Dr. Carlo Casavecchia - general manager and wine maker of Case Vinicole di Sicilia, a group of which are part Duca di Salaparuta, Vini Corvo and Cantine Florio - took part to the event. Dr. Carlo Casavecchia illustrated to the participants the history and productive aspects of Duca di Salaparuta, as well as wine making characteristics of the 6 wines presented in the course of the event. Sensorial tasting and the enogastronomical matching have been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, editor in chief of DiWineTaste. The event started with Brut Riserva, a sparkling wine produced with the long Charmat method with Grecanico and Chardonnay grapes. The event is then continued with the only white of the evening - Kados 2007, made from Grillo grape - very appreciated by participants for its aromas and elegance. Three red wines have colored the event. SuorMarchesa Passo delle Mule 2006, a 100% Nero d'Avola wine aged for 10 months in barrique, followed by Vajasindi Lavico 2004, an interesting wine made from Nerello Mascalese grape and aged for 12 months in barrique. Absolute star of the evening has been Duca Enrico 2003 - the famous and renowned wine made from Nero d'Avola and aged for 18 months in barrique - which impressed for its usual and impeccable elegance and class. The event ended with ALA, Antico Liquorvino Amarascato, the renowned wine of Duca di Salaparuta made from traditional Sicilian red grapes and aromatized with an infusion of wild cherry leaves.
