Pecorino and Montepulciano, the main grapes found in Tenuta Cocci Grifoni's wines, have been the protagonists of this event dedicated to the famous winery of San Savino di Ripatransone, in province of Ascoli Piceno. Thanks to the far-sightedness and efforts of Guido Cocci Grifoni - founder of this winery - Pecorino grape has been revaluated and rediscovered, today among the main wine making glories of Marches. The areas unfolded by Tenuta Cocci Grifoni's wines speak about the territories of Offida and Rosso Piceno Superiore, in which, in this very winery, was produced in 1969 the first bottle belonging to the appellation. To the event took part Dr. Tiziana Forni, sales manager of Tenuta Cocci Grifoni, and Dr. Giulio Brandimarti, public relations manager. Dr. Forni told participants about the history of the winery, the productive characteristics of wines and the territories in which Tenuta Cocci Grifoni cultivates its vineyards and make wine. The event started with Passerina Brut Gaudio Magno 2011, a sparkling wine produced with the Martinotti method: a pleasing and immediate wine in which the aromatic crispness of the grape is well expressed. It is then the turn of one of the most prestigious wines of Tenuta Cocci Grifoni, fruit of the research and revaluation job done by the winery: Offida Pecorino Colle Vecchio 2011, for the occasion in preview tasting in its first vintage belonging to the Denominazione Controllata e Garantita ranking. The event continues with the first of the three red wines, expression and Montepulciano grape and the territories of Offida and Rosso Piceno Superiore. Rosso Piceno Superiore Le Torri 2007, produced with Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, expresses a complex character, however having a remarkable agreeability, with both grapes' characters in good evidence. Also the second red wine - Rosso Piceno Superiore Vigna Messieri 2006 - having a higher structure and a more robust character, allows the full expressions of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, giving the glass a wine of remarkable class and elegance. The event ended with the flagship red wine of the winery of Ripatransone, Offida Rosso Il Grifone 2006 - another preview tasting for this occasion - in which Montepulciano meets Cabernet Sauvignon, significantly contributing in smoothing its exuberabce while giving a fuller body: a wine of remarkable character in which vintage 2006 gives class and elegance. The sensorial tasting of the five wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalan whereas the dishes paired to the wines have been prepared by Locanda dei Golosi's kitchen led by Chef Emiliano Buccolini.
