The sixteenth season of DiWineTaste events 2016/2017 starts with an evening dedicated to two of the most magnificent grapes of Italy and having in the land of the South their best expression. Fiano and Aglianico, to which has been added Greco Bianco, have in fact been the grapes protagonists of this event, a journey interpreted by wines of Cobellis winery of Vallo della Lucania (Salerno) a significant and emerging winery of Cilento. To the event took part, representing Cobellis, dr. Rosario Liguori, managing director of the winery, Luigi Busiello, sales manager for Cilento and Vallo di Diano area, Ivan Giubileo, sommelier of Cobellis winery. The evening started with Thumos 2015, a remarkable interpretation of Greco Bianco in Cilento, a wine of fine elegance in which can be fully perceived the character of the territory as well as the typical minerality usually found in wines produced with this grape. It is then the turn of the second white of the evening - Cilento Fiano Crai 2014 - extraordinary interpretation of this noble white variety and emphasizing, in particular, the potentials of Cilento area for this grape, mainly for the promising evolution over time. With the third wine the glasses are filled with the brilliant pink color of Cilento Rosato Piscrai 2015 - produced with Aglianico and Sangiovese grapes - a wine of pleasing crispness in which are clearly perceived the typical sensations of red fruits of the respective grapes. The event continues with the first red of the evening - Cilento Rosso Piscriddi 2013, produced with Aglianico, Sangiovese and Barbera grapes vinified in steel tanks - a wine of lively crispness joined to the roundness given by time. The second red wine of the event, the fifth of the evening, has been Cilento Aglianico Vigna dei Russi 2011, produced with 100% Aglianico and with grapes harvested from the homonymous vineyard, benefiting from the aging in barrique and, in particular, of the long aging in bottle. Vigna dei Russi gives a full bodied and robust wine in which is clearly recognized the character of the Cilento area and with well rounded tannins magnificently balancing the typical crispness of Aglianico. The event ended with Cilento Fiano Crai Late Harvest 2013 - Cobellis winery identifies this wine as "vintage" - capable of giving again a magnificent proof of this grape as well as confirming the potentials of Fiano in Cilento, a full bodied and complex wine however having an extraordinary agreeableness and a truly promising future ahead. The sensorial tasting of wines has been conducted - as usual - by Antonello Biancalana, DiWineTaste chief editor, who has also created the dishes paired to Cobellis wines. The realization of dished has been made by Chef Emiliano Buccolini leading the kitchen staff of Locanda dei Golosi.
