Nebbiolo strikes back! The event, dedicated to the excellent wines of Casa Vinicola Triacca, has represented a tribute to the culture, viticulture, wine making and cooking of Valtellina. Participants have in fact appreciated the wines of this prestigious winery matched with two of the most characteristic foods of Valtellina: "pizzoccheri" and "polenta taragna". Thanks to Molino Filippini of Teglio, which provided both pizzoccheri and the flour for polenta taragna, and Il Maggengo of Sondrio, which provided the Casera cheese, the event has brought Valtellina in Umbria. Dr. Filippo Andreotta, marketing manager of Casa Vinicola Triacca, took part to the event and illustrated to participants the main aspects of Valtellinese wine making and of his winery. The first wine of the evening, which has positively surprised everyone, was the white La Contea 2005, appreciated for its particular personality. The evening continued with a selection of three Casa Vinicola Triacca's Nebbiolos: Valtellina Superiore Sassella 2002, Valtellina Superiore Prestigio 2001 and the excellent Sforzato di Valtellina San Domenico 2001, in a crescendo of aromas and tastes which told participants about the magnificence of Nebbiolo and the character of Valtellina and its "heroic" viticulture.
