Umani Ronchi: excellences of Marches and Abruzzo, from Bianchello and Verdicchio to Montepulciano
Perugia, Italy
Thursday, November 10th, 2016
Three years have passed since the last time Umani Ronchi winery has been the protagonist of one of our events, by telling our readers about their wines and territory. In this third event dedicated to the famous winery of Osimo, in province of Ancona, the evening has been particularly focused on the most historical and representative wines of Umani Ronchi, as well as Montepulciano d'Abruzzo produced in the winery of Roseto degli Abruzzi. The narration of wines and Umani Ronchi's estates has been accounted by dr. Evelina Bernetti - commercial manager for Italy - focusing on the history of her winery and the viticoltural characteristics of each estate located in Marches and Abruzzo regions. The event started with one of the historical denomination of controlled origin (DOC, Denominazione d'Origine Controllata) of Marches and Italy - Bianchello del Metauro Fortunae 2015, dedicated to Fano, named after the old name of this town, Fanum Fortunae - immediate and direct interpretation of Biancame grape, locally called Bianchello, a pleasing and agreeable wine. It is then the turn of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Casal di Serra 2015, among the most representative wines of Umani Ronchi, excellent interpretation of the Marches' wine glory - Verdicchio grape - a wine of extraordinary elegance and class, confirming the remarkable potentials of the great white berried grape of Marches, excellence of the Italian wine scene. Time to change both color and territory, by passing to the tasting of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Montipagano 2015, produced in the winery of Roseto degli Abruzzi, in province of Teramo, interesting interpretation of the famous red grape from Abruzzo, offering a pleasing and balanced wine through the frankness of Montepulciano and roundness given both by time and aging in cask. The next wine has again as a protagonist Montepulciano, this time produced in one of the most significant territories of Marches, Conero Riserva Cumaro 2012, magnificent and sumptuous glass in which emerges the power of Montepulciano joined to the finesse and class typical of Umani Ronchi winery. The event ended with the renowned Maximo 2013 - supreme wine produced with Sauvignon Blanc enriched by Botritys Cinerea, created by the extraordinary intuition and genius of the great wine maker Giacomo Tachis who, before anyone else, understood the potentials of Marches in the production of the so called botrytized wines. A wine expressing the beauty of poetry associated to the elegance of a wine masterpiece of absolute value. The tasting of wines has been conducted, as usual, by Antonello Biancalana who has also created the food paired to Umani Ronchi wines.
