Talking about Teo Musso and Baladin Beer, means, first of all, talking about the rebirth of quality beer and, in particular, the birth of that important brewing style commonly known as "Craft Beer". It was 1986 when Teo Musso - in Piozzo, in the province of Cuneo in the Langhe territory - started his interest in quality beer. His passion marks the first important and significant step, when in 1996 creates and bottles the very first Italian craft beer, still today a reference model in the Italian brewing scene: Super Baladin. The event dedicated to Baladin Beer has been an interesting journey for the discovering of Teo Musso's world and of his remarkable production of beer, in the many styles as well as his experimentation work. To the evening took part Teo Musso who told participants the history of his brewery, as well as introducing the six beers tasted in the course of the event. The evening started with Isaac, a Bière Blanche, produced in part with raw wheat and aromatized with coriander and orange: a perfect introduction for understanding the style with which Teo Musso characterizes his beers. The event proceeds with Nora - a tribute to the history of beer and Egypt, among the very first countries in which beer was produced, about 5000 years ago - in which we find Kamut, and no hop, interesting beer characterized by orange and ginger aromas as well as a pleasing hints of resin and menthol. The third beer of the evening is Nazionale (National), the very first beer totally produced with Italian raw matters, including hop, a very agreeable beer of pleasing crispness. The evening proceeds with the flagship product of Baladin - Super - an amber beer which production has been inspired by Belgian abbey beers, in which can be perceived pleasing hints of almond, well balanced with the aromas of malt and hop. The event magnificently ended with two of the beers fruit of Teo Musso's experimentation, going beyond the common concept of beer and raising it to the level of meditation beverage, of extraordinary magnificence and greatness. The first of the two is Riserva Teo Musso "Terre" 2010, a tribute to the world of red wine, a beer - technically belonging to the "barley wine" style, allowed to age for some years in casks used for the production of red wine, rich of noble oxidation aromas as well as intense sensations of dried fruits. Belonging to the same style, the last beer of the evening - Riserva Teo Musso "Xyauyù" 2008 - goes even beyond: not only magnificent aromas of noble oxidation, which directly recall noble wines such as Madeira, Jerez and Marsala, but also an intense sweet taste: a complex beer both to the nose and mouth, with an extraordinary persistence. The sensorial tasting of the beers has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana who has created, as usual, the dishes paired to the six beers of Teo Musso.
