Giovanni Ederle is a young vintner with very clear ideas about what his wines should express. The very same ideas and vision are shared by the ones working in his winery - all of them young - and, in particular, by wine maker Silvia Baratella in charge of transforming into wine the fruits of the vineyard, personally supervised by Giovanni Ederle. The event dedicated to the winery of Verona had as protagonists the main wines being produced here, in which are found the typical varieties of the territory. Two whites and three reds have in fact allowed the understanding of the characteristics of Garganega and Corvina, in particular, to understand how a white wine can be appreciated even after some years from harvesting. The event started with the two whites produced by Giovanni Ederle - both made with Garganega and Chardonnay - having a similar composition however so distant one from each other in terms of expression. The first one, San Mattia Bianco 2011, is aged in steel tanks, whereas the second one, Donna Francesca 2011, is aged in cask. Two wines expressing a pleasing crispness and two distinct and opposed characters, however both being valuable wines. The event continues with red wines that, in this case, are all made with Corvina, the famous grape of Valpolicella. The first one is San Mattia Rosso, having a pleasing crispness, is an immediate and frank wine in which can be appreciated the typical aromas of the grapes making it. Rubro del Forte 2011, a red with a character, ages in cask and it is produced with dried grapes, expresses a pleasing crispness and a perfectly balanced roundness, it joins the typical aromas of Corvina to a proper and pleasing body. The event ended with Amarone della Valpolicella 2009, wine glory of Verona, this is the first vintage produced by Giovanni Ederle, it gives an interpretation of the famous wine of Valpolicella with elegance and body, a wine anticipating a brilliant future for the following vintages. The sensorial tasting of wines, as well as the creation of the dishes of the event, have been done, as usual, by Antonello Biancalana.
