Endrizzi: History and wines of Trentino
Perugia, Italy
Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
The evening dedicated to the great wines of Endrizzi has magnificently ended the 2010-2011 season of DiWineTaste events. An event dedicated to the wines of Trentino, interpreted by one of the most important and significant winery of the region, with a history of more than 120 years, passing through 1900s up to 2000s, in a journey characterized by quality and a productive philosophy respectful for the environment. To the event took part dr. Paolo Endrici - owner and managing director of Endrizzi winery - and his wife Christine, public relation and marketing manager. The evening, which had as protagonist 6 wines, among the best representatives of the prestigious production of the winery of San Michele all'Adige, has been narrated by the passion of dr. Paolo Endrici, who illustrated to the participants the long history of Endrizzi winery, the philosophy on which is based the production, from grape to bottle, and the quality of territory in which are being cultivated the vineyards. The event started with Trento Brut Riserva 2007, a remarkable interpretation of this sparkling wine area, produced with the classic method from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, refermented in bottle for more than four years, interesting wine for its elegance and finesse. The event continued with the first of the two white wines, Trentino Riesling 2010, a wine of pleasing crispness and of good aromatic expression, followed by the most representative white wine of Endrizzi winery, fruit of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, an example of pleasing balance between roundness and crispness, as well as elegance and class. The event continued with two red wines, starting from Masetto Nero 2008, one of the most representative wines of Endrizzi, produced with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as the indigenous Lagrein and Teroldego, among the most appreciated wines of the evening. Teroldego had its best expression and appreciation in the most prestigious wine of Endrizzi - Gran Masetto 2007, awarded with DiWineTaste 5 diamonds - produced in part with dried Teroldego, aged in barrique for twenty months, a wine of remarkable body as well as pleasing roundness and elegance, a wine of strong personality. The evening ended with the sweet Masetto Dulcis 2008, a wine of rare elegance, in perfect balance between sweetness and crispness, in which can be appreciated the exuberance of Golden Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer grapes. The six wines of Endrizzi have been paired to dishes created by Antonello Biancalana - who also conducted the sensorial tasting of each wine - and prepared by Locanda dei Golosi's kitchen directed by Chef de Cuisine Emiliano Buccolini and Sous Chef Alberto Kurti.
